In retrospect, I don’t see much I like, either. I wanted to like this more than I actually did.No wonder most of them hated me when I first came on board. ' Cool idea, great execution, good crossover fantasy appeal, but I just couldn't care about the characters. Did think it could have ended a little sooner than it did, kinda dragged a little at the end. If you enjoy Linnea Sinclair' work or the Star Doc series I recommend giving this novel a whirl. I couldn't even get past the first couple of chapters. ' The plot zips along, the writing is clever and tight, and the 'angry young woman' heroine is leavened with wit and intelligence. ' A little frenetic, with a lot happening in a very short period of time. ' Fun, fast-paced space opera for 'Firefly' fans (especially women), with a great romance plot. Maybe I just miss it, but the crew reminded me of the crew from the Serenity. ' All I gotta say is, once I got a ways into this book, the thought I had was 'Firefly.' I'm not sure why. Smut almost always wins me over, and there was good smut! There's something to be said for a quick and enjoyable read that doesn't make you think too much - especially after slogging through a book as intense as Mists of Avalon. That said, I enjoyed the creativity of the world (though I still don't understand what Grimspace or jumping actually are) and by the end I was racing to finish. She was like a more extreme version of Sookie - and I fell out of love with Sookie a long time ago. Jax was almost TOO sassy though, if that can be a thing for me, and it kept me from really getting into the dialog.

I partially blame the rocky start on the fact that I dug into it at work and was distracted frequently by the wackiness that ensues there, so again and again I had to reread what I had just covered because it didn't absorb. ' I sure didn't think much of this in the beginning, but it really grew on me.
